Meet Our New Art Content Expert - Maddy Grant

Please join us in welcoming Madeline Grant as our Art Content Expert at the Epicenter Makerspace! Maddy is originally from North Carolina and received her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts with a focus in painting from Marshall University in 2017. She is formally trained in oil’s, acrylics, and watercolor but is also very comfortable creating pieces in a wide variety of other mediums. After coming to our area she joined the Riverside Artists Gallery in 2017.

Maddy began her business, MG Studios, LLC, even before she graduated with her undergraduate degree. Her business holds two trademarks: Madeline Grant Fine Art is where she produces high end pieces, commercial art, interior design work, and pieces displayed in art galleries. Maddy’s Marvels is her second trademark and there she locally creates geeky and galactic themed glow in the dark toys, art and jewelry.

We met Maddy when the Makerspace first opened and her enthusiasm for this new endeavor was obvious from the start. She then participated in Discover Art Day, where local high school students completed hands on art activities with three artists and then participated in a networking lunch. The students loved her pouring class and learned a lot from her that day, not just about paint pouring but about being an artist in general. Not long after, she became our Art Content Expert.

Maddy wanted to be involved in the Makerspace for a plethora of reasons. She loves working with students and wants to give back to the community. She wants people to realize that art isn’t just creating things, it can be cathartic. She also says you don’t have to have formal training to create art and that she wants to help people in the community realize they can be an artist and have a sense of pride in what they create. Maddy looks forward to working with local creators and artists in the community.

You can view Maddy’s work at the Riverside Artists Gallery where much of her work is on display. Better yet, come take a class from her at the Makerspace! She has already began offering vinyl cutting classes, pour painting classes, and has her first jewelry making class coming up! We are so excited to have Maddy with us and can’t wait to see what she helps our community create!
